Eoin Conway’s compositions draw on influences from his multi-faceted performance career in the fields of choral music, Renaissance polyphony, barbershop and jazz. These influences combine to present works which enjoy harmonic richness and expressive use of dissonance whilst maintaining singable melodic lines.
Eoin studied composition at NUI Maynooth and completed an MMus in vocal performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Outside of his performance work as a freelance countertenor, he is very active as a musical director, accompanist, composer and arranger. He is a Lay Vicar Choral at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, and a deputy singer with Det Norske Solistkor, Norway, and Chamber Choir Ireland. He is the musical director of and sings with the vocal harmony quartet 4 in a Bar. He is also co-director and member of the small vocal ensemble Peregryne, who specialise in late-medieval works. Other choral experience includes singing with the ensemble Resurgam, and he is a former member of internationally renowned choir New Dublin Voices.
Choral compositions have been commissioned by the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, UCD Choral Scholars and the Palestrina Choir. Several of his arrangements have been recorded by 4 in a Bar on their CD Hide and Seek, and New Dublin Voices on their 2017 CD Make We Merry, with forthcoming recordings by UCD Choral Scholars on the Signum label and the Palestrina Choir.
