This new work brings a fresh complexion and character to this Irish classic. Eoin Conway’s arrangement transports us to a time long ago, to when the Irish chieftain Phelim is fleeing his enemies aboard a small boat. The journey – at first peaceful and then perilous – is captured perfectly in the piece. Very accessible choral parts are supported and enhanced by evocative and mesmerising piano writing.
